Coral Colours

Got to love a long weekend! I've been back to Lincoln to see my family and surprise my papa for his birthday. We've been so lucky with the weather, which meant lunch in the sun, shopping, beer gardens and visiting Lincoln castle to see the poppies on show. I also had my first ice cream of the year whilst sat in the sunshine, definitely ready for my holiday now! As it was payday last week, I treated myself to a new summer wardrobe including this sleeveless jacket - Primark has some real gems at the moment!

Primark jacket | Topshop cami | American Eagle jeans | Ravel shoes via House of Fraser

I can't believe this jacket was only £10, so much cheaper than the one I was eyeing up online. I love the coral colour - perfect for summer! I also adore the split sides of this sleeveless jacket and the belted back too. It's perfect for those days where it's not quite warm enough for just a cami. These sandals were also another recent purchase (spending ban most definitely broken!) I'm loving coral and orange hues for summer and the tassels add to that summer festival vibe.

Hope you're all having a lovely Bank Holiday weekend and enjoying the sunshine! Lots more summer outfits coming up on the blog over the next few weeks so keep your eyes peeled.

Daily Spring Makeup

A little 'what's in my makeup bag' post today! I love reading these types of post, mainly because I'm a nosey Nora, so I thought I'd give it a go. I'm always changing my makeup and there aren't actually many products I repurchase, but some of these are my absolute staples along with some newbies for the spring.

bareMinerals foundation, mineral veil and warmth

I've never found my perfect foundation, so tend to hop from one to another quite a lot. I like a light to medium coverage, nothing to cakey, but it needs to hide blemishes and an oily T-zone. I know right, not an easy task! At the moment I'm using bareMinerals original foundation in fair. So far, I'm a fan of the natural, airbrushed finish it gives and it works well with both my dry and oily areas. The shade is looking a little pale on me now that summer is here (hello freckles) and it isn't the best at covering blemishes. That said, I'm pretty happy with the finish and used alongside their Prime Time primer, it buffs on to the skin nicely.

The mineral veil is a dream. It's a lovely light, radiant setting powder and you only need a little dusting of it as a little goes a long way. The warmth powder looked a little dark to me. My first thoughts were, "well that's terrifying" but with a light hand and plenty of buffing, it gives a nice sunkissed glow to the face. I tend to use across my cheekbones, forehead and chin.

Seventeen blusher

Where would I be without this beauty! I've bought so many blushers over the years and nothing has topped my Seventeen blush. It disappeared from stores a while ago/I could never seem to get hold of it, but these are now available online for the rather splendid price of £2.99. Absolute bargain if you ask me. I use the shade 'China Pink' which is beautiful bright pink. Despite its high pigmentation, it's easily blendable and doesn't look too crazy bright on the skin. It's also perfect if you have a pale complexion like little old me.

MAC eyeshadow in Blanc Type

My daytime makeup is pretty toned down, mainly because I can't be bothered at 7am! This MAC eyeshadow is a lovely, light neutral perfect for brightening up the eyes and smoothing over any discolourations. It's fairly matte and stays on for most of the day, so definitely worth the £13 price tag.

Benefit Roller Lash and Max Factor False Lash Effect Waterproof mascara

I didn't get on well with the Benefit They're Real mascara and was worried the same would happen for Roller Lash too. Thankfully it happens to be AMAZING and is now my daily staple. It gives really good volume and shape to eyelashes whilst feeling super light, and it stays on for the whole day. So much love.

Max Factor False Lash Effect is my go-to mascara when I'm in danger of serious panda eyes e.g. if I'm going to the gym that day, on holiday or if it's chucking it down with rain (so most days, right!) MaxFactor really got it right with this one, it gives plenty of volume and thickness, and has serious staying power.

Maybelline Brow Drama

I use this alongside a powder product normally, but I'm having a hard time finding one that I like! I'm tempted to try some brow gel formulas instead. This brow mascara is so quick and effortless, which is probably why I love it so much. I use the dark brown version which adds a bit of colour and definition whilst keeping my eyebrows in place all day - no stragglers for me!

Sleek lipsticks

If I'm going to throw some lippy on, chances are it'll be one of the Sleek VIP lipsticks in Private Booth (a lovely, natural nude-pink) or Backstage (not pictured) if I want a brighter lip. I love the colours, the matte finish and the price! I usually swipe some Burt's Bees on before and throughout the day too just to add a bit of moisture.

I switch up my eye makeup daily depending on my mood. Sometimes it's just mascara, other times I define my waterline with kohl eyeliner - I'm using Rimmel's Scandal Eyes kohl eyeliner at the moment. I'm quite a fan of this one as it's waterproof and I don't need to reapply much throughout the day. I occasionally dabble with liquid eyeliner and love the Eyko Skinny Liquid eyeliner - it's SO precise and so easy to use that even I can apply it. I got mine from ASOS last month and highly recommend it if you struggle with liquid liner.

So, that's my face in a nutshell! I actually didn't realise how much I have - and this is only the stuff I use. (Anyone else guilty of having two other makeup bags full of unused products?!) I'm always on the lookout for new things to try, especially brow products so let me know if you have any recommendations.

Dungaree Days

Someone bring back the sun! I feel like we were teased with a week of hot weather only for it to go back to coat and jacket weather - I'm not okay with that. On the plus side, I've finally found the perfect pair of dungarees after months of searching. Being long legged (but not quite tall enough for the 'tall' section), it's been hard to find some that come up high enough but this cropped denim pair are perfection. They have some cute fraying round the ankles and SO MANY POCKETS. I may never need to carry a bag again!

I've also fallen in love with these 'cold shoulder' style tops and definitely plan on buying some more for the summer as I'm a big advocate of the casual lazy-day tee, although I'm on the hunt for some dressy cami style ones too. On a side note, I absolutely loved the location we found for these outfit pics. It was hayfever HELL (thank God for the sunglasses hiding my red eyes!) but made a nice change. I might venture back here this weekend - I don't know about you but I've had the busiest of weeks and desperately need some down time!

Varsity Life

Another weekend gone! I swear they speed by when it's nearly summer. I decided to mix things up a bit and try some new locations for blog photos. Living in a flat in town means I don't have many options for backdrops and I'm so bored of taking them by the hedge near our flat! We ventured out today and found an empty skatepark so had some fun taking some outfit pics there.

I've been on the hunt for a bomber jacket for ages, but being as picky as I am, I couldn't find one that I liked. I wanted one that was a little bit longer, something cotton/jersey based and a casual style (not too much to ask for, right?!) I finally found my perfect bomber jacket on ASOS - it is from the tall section so the arms are super long but I can live with that!

I'm a casual girl at heart so this bomber jacket is a welcome addition to my summer wardrobe. I do love monochrome but I really need to stop buying black! And, because no outfit shoot is complete without an outtake...that last pic is me getting off those ramps. Which is harder than it looks! Sliding down is pretty much the only (fun) option.

A Khaki Affair

H&M khaki jacket | H&M top | Topshop Leigh jeans | New Balance 410s.

Oh to be back in the woods again. I love being away from the hustle and bustle, don't you? I'm definitely a country bumpkin at heart. I went to Center Parcs with my family a couple of weekends ago and as you can probably tell from my face and awkward poses, it was a bit chilly! I kind of wish it had been as sunny and warm as it is at the moment, although I still managed to get my ankles out and wear my new jacket which I am loving for spring so had to share it with you guys. I had been looking for a khaki jacket for ages and finally found the perfect, slightly oversized style in H&M.

I nearly went for a lightweight parka but couldn't resist this cargo/utility style and it's the perfect material for that spring/summer transition. I've rolled up the sleeves for a casual look and paired it with my new H&M 'Nostalgia' slogan tee, which I wish I'd taken a better photo of! I was too cold/too excited running around Center Parcs like a little kid. (Secret - it still happens to be one of my favourite places ever).

I mean, look at those views. Someone take me back?

My Skincare Routine

As a teenager, I was pretty lucky with my skin. I had the odd breakout but nothing worth complaining about. Fast forward to 25 year old me and I developed the WORST skin of my life. I'm still not sure how or why this happened, my diet is pretty good and drink plenty of water. (I still think it was payback for having decent teenage skin!) I developed breakouts ALL over my face, dry patches, oiliness, blackheads. My face was covered and make up only helped to hide it a little.

Five months on and my skin is finally pretty much clear. I get the odd breakout but nothing like before. For the first time in a long time, I have a skincare routine. SIGH. I'm fairly low maintenance to be honest, so the idea of having any sort of routine makes my eyes roll. I found it hard to stick to at first, but it's definitely becoming more of a habit now. Here's my skincare regime and a few of my latest favourite products.

*Please note these may not work for everyone. If you're unsure what you need, try a skin analysis or consultation with a beautician. I had mine at Aqua Sana Spa and it was only £10! Which I got back when I bought two products. Bonus.

1. Elemis Herbal Lavender Repair Mask - twice a week

I had my skin consultation and analysis at Aqua Sana Spa in Elveden Center Parcs and learnt a lot about my skin - I'll put a whole review up soon. Firstly, I need to give a shout out to Olivia who carried out my analysis. She was so good and I can't thank her enough for the product recommendations! When she told me about this repair face mask, I knew I had to get it. It's a calming and soothing face mask to be used twice a week, perfect for blemishes and sensitive skin. The one tip Olivia gave me, and that I literally swear by, is to dot this on to blemishes like you would with a spot stick. I leave it for 5 minutes then wash it off and my spots calm right down. They don't necessarily disappear but the redness and soreness goes, and I've found they go down in size too.

2. Elemis Pro-Radiance Cream Cleanser - daily

HELLO HEAVEN. I've stopped using face wipes to remove make up after reading they can be the sole cause of bad skin. Since then I've used a number of products but they're so fiddly and take ages, and I love a quick fix. This cleanser removes all make up and pollutants by simply rubbing on to your face whilst dry, leaving for a minute and then wiping off with a mitt or face cloth. So quick and effortless - my type of skin care! It literally removes all layers of foundation, face powder, you name it, and leaves my skin radiant and glowing.

3. Elemis Hydra-Balance Day Cream - daily

For all you combination skin girls, this is a dream. I can't tell you the faff I've had trying to find a decent moisturiser. They're either too oily, too drying, too greasy or too thick. The Hydra-Balance moisturiser is super light and literally melts in to the skin. It contains oil-regulating properties to combat and regulate oily skin, whilst also hydrating and locking in essential moisture which is perfect if you also have dry patches. 10/10 on this one, Elemis!

4. Decleor Phytopeel Natural Exfoliating Cream - once a week

Well, this Decleor exfoliater is just wonderful. It's unlike any exfoliator I've tried before in the sense that you apply it to the face, allow it to dry and then you start exfoliating once it's dry. I found that a bit weird, I'm used to exfoliating with creams or wet skin! However it buffs away perfectly, literally peeling from the skin as you exfoliate and getting rid of any impurities. I've found it leaves my skin incredibly smooth, it's very calming and sensitive, and helps to get rid of dry patches.

Have you tried any of these products or have any to recommend for my skincare routine? I'm still on the hunt for the perfect primer! These products are also available on sites like Feelunique and at many spas. Also, let me know if you would prefer these sorts of beauty posts as a video. I know they can be a bit too text heavy sometimes and it's harder to swatch them for a photo as they all look very similar in consistency!
