Vision Express Exclusive Brands Launch

Alright my lovelies. A different post today...in the form of a video! I'm going to apologise now for my weird facial expressions and constant playing with my hair (I never knew it was that annoying?!) I had a fab afternoon with Vision Express, taking a look at their Exclusive Brands collection and also having a frame consultation with my blogger brother Sam and stylist Gemma Sheppard - who happens to be rather epic at decision making. I love the various tortoiseshell statement specs they have in the range, especially my final chosen pair. Have a watch to pick up some style tips from Gemma and have a sneak a peek of the Vision Express Exclusive Brands (or if you just want to see my weird facial expressions as mentioned above).

I'm super excited for my new specs and will post some photos soon! If you want to know more about the Exclusive Brands collection, go and have a nosey.

Minimalist Metallics

Oasis top - ASOS | H&M jacket (old) | Topshop Leigh Jeans | Miss KG boots | Ray Ban Aviators.
Being a simple Simon today! I do love a minimalistic outfit, especially when black is thrown in to the mix. I may or may not have had an ASOS haul last week (eek - spending ban broken!) and bought this Oasis top. The photos don't show it properly but it has a slight metallic sheen to it and it's pure holographic love. The slouchy style makes it perfect for daytime too, paired with black skinny jeans and some ankle boots. It's definitely one of those tops that could be dressed up for the evening with heels and a bold lip colour.

I'm also a little bit excited that it's warm enough to get my ankles out! I think it'll be a while until the legs are unleashed upon the world, but for now I'm happy that I can walk around without freezing my ankles off.

Travel: Megeve

Warning - photo heavy post! I can't believe it was only 4 weeks ago that I was looking at these Megeve views, it feels like so much time has passed. It also feels weird writing about a snowy holiday whilst the sun is shining outside and spring is in full swing! I went on my first ski trip this year (apologies if you follow me on Insta, I got very snap happy when I saw the snow...) and it was incredible to say the least. The views are the best I've ever seen and it was one of my favourite holidays - and that's coming from a girl who LOVES hot weather and a sandy beach.

There are so many things I loved about our ski holiday - staying in a lovely chalet with friends, wrapping up for snowy walks, learning to ski, meals out, sledging in the evening after the slopes had closed and the chair lifts! For someone who's not a fan of heights, I bloody loved the chair lifts. It's so peaceful up there and the views are insane. It's also the perfect time to take your goggles off and soak up some rays!

Seeing as I had never skied before, I took a couple of lessons on a dry slope before heading out, just so I could get to grips with the basics. I wasn't overly confident and was so worried I wouldn't take to it, but it's insane how quick you progress when you're out there on proper snow! I had a couple of painful/embarrassing stacks (only I could choose to crash right in front of a restaurant full of people) and managed to get out of the snowplough technique and in to parallels which were waaaay more fun. I spent most of my time on the green runs, looking back I could've handled going on some of the blues too but I enjoyed my nice and easy greens! Nathan's put together a ski holiday video if you fancy a watch.

About Megeve

Megeve is a lovely little resort set in the Alps, just across from Mont Blanc. It's well-known for being a luxury ski resort, with high-end hotels, cobbled streets and designer boutiques. Our chalet was right next to the slopes which was pretty ideal - and check out those views from our bedroom! For ski/board equipment hire, we used Sport 2000. Their equipment was well looked after and my ski boots were an absolute dream.

In terms of food, you're not short on options. Restaurants and cafes line the village, with a Carrefour supermarket within walking distance. I would totally recommend the pizzeria for fresh, homemade pizzas and amazing tarte tatin. The brasserie does amazing steaks and a varied menu to suit everyone.

Top tips
  • Go down to the village at night! It's amazing when everything is lit up. It's pretty lively on a Saturday, hello outdoor DJ!
  • Most shops close for a while in the afternoon, usually around 12pm-3pm.
  • You HAVE to go up on the gondola, even if you're not doing any of the big runs. It's an experience and the views are amazing.
  • I would totally recommend stopping at one of the slope cafes for a chocolat chaud - the French seriously know how to do hot chocolate and it's the perfect opportunity to soak up some rays.
  • Don't go crazy on the layers. We went at the start of March and only wore our baselayers with a ski jacket and salopettes. We didn't need any fleeces or mid-layers.
  • Go out first thing in the morning to take advantage of the freshly pisted slopes. Lovely and smooth.
  • Afternoon naps will become your best friend.
  • Expect to do involuntary splits on more than one occasion.
  • The longer you spend out on the slopes, the better you'll get. I spent around 3-4 hours a day but looking back wish I'd spent more time skiing.

Hope you've enjoyed reading about my ski travels! I really would recommend it, such an awesome holiday.

Simple stripes

Next cardigan | Topshop cami | AEO jeans | Miss KG boots

Well hello there spring! What a beaut weekend, I love it when it's warm enough to go outside without a coat or being bundled up in a thousand layers. I picked up this cardi in Next last week, I'm not usually a cardigan kind of girl but couldn't resist this one. I love the simple, colour block design and the longline style is perfect for this transitional weather. I'm also wearing one of my fave new camisoles from Topshop, I really need to stock up on this in every colour! It has a strappy t-shaped back (not online so I've linked to a similar style above).

I've just realised this is a blog debut for my American Eagle skinny jeans. I bought a couple of pairs after Christmas when they were on offer and they happen to be THE best jeans ever. They hold their shape whilst also being super stretchy which is perfect when you love food as much as me - nothing worse than tight jeans and a food baby, am I riiiiiight! Hope you're enjoying the sunshine!
